Xbox Series X vs Series S : Which is more powerful and value for money?

The Xbox Series X is significantly more powerful (4K Native Gaming) than the Xbox Series S (2K Native Gaming) for gaming. Here’s a comparison of key aspects:

GTA 6 on Xbox Series S vs Series X

Good News :) GTA 6 is Coming on Xbox also

1. Performance & Hardware

Xbox Series X:

12 TFLOPS GPU (52 CUs @ 1.825GHz)

16GB GDDR6 RAM

1TB NVMe SSD

4K resolution gaming @ 60–120 FPS

Supports ray tracing at high performance

Xbox Series S:

4 TFLOPS GPU (20 CUs @ 1.565GHz)

10GB GDDR6 RAM

512GB NVMe SSD (lower storage)

1440p resolution gaming @ 60–120 FPS

Supports ray tracing but at lower fidelity

2. Resolution & Graphics

The Series X is designed for 4K gaming, with higher graphical fidelity and better textures.

The Series S is capped at 1440p (can upscale to 4K but lacks native 4K rendering).

3. Game Performance & Backward Compatibility

Both consoles support the same games, but the Series X runs them at higher resolutions and better settings.

The Series X has more VRAM (16GB), but the Series S has 10 GB VRAM, which helps with textures and overall performance in next-gen games in Series X.

Backward compatibility is available on both, but Series X delivers enhanced performance for older titles and it’s not bad for series S also :)

4. Storage

Series X: 1TB SSD (usable space ~800GB)

Series S: 512GB SSD (usable space ~364GB)

Both support Seagate expansion cards, but storage is a concern for the Series S, as modern games take up a lot of space.

5. Price & Value

Series X: ~$499 (higher price but premium performance)

Series S: ~$299 (cheaper but limited performance)

As of my opinion the performance difference is not as much as $200 🤡

Conclusion :

If you want the best gaming experience with 4K resolution, ray tracing, and high performance, go for the Xbox Series X. If you’re on a budget and fine with 1440p gaming with some Ray Tracing, the Series S is a good option, but it has compromises in graphical power and storage.

In point of value for money, I am going to recommend you the Xbox Series S, but if you do not have any stress about the money then go for Xbox Series X or Sony Playstation 5 (PS5) Pro :)

Have a good day :)
